When are the essay topics posted?

New essay topics are posted in late September or early October each year.

Who is eligible to enter the contest?

Level I is open to students in grades 7, 8, and 9. Level II is open to students in grades 10, 11, and 12. Any school, including home school, anywhere in the world.

Do you have to be Jewish to enter the contest?

No.

Can international students enter the contest?

Yes. Use the same online submission as all applicants.

How and when are essay finalists notified?

By May 31, via email.

Do you publish the winning essays?

No. We want every contestant to think about the question from a fresh perspective and not be influenced by previous winners.

Can I suggest essay topics for upcoming contests?
